Not a Clydesdale, but still...

I have to tell you about today's horse-related morning.

Surrounded by subdivisions, box stores, and zipping traffic, one road near my home still manages to be rural. I love driving on it and seeing the gardens, goats and rolling acreage. It reminds me of when I was a kid and such views were actually...common.

Anyway, at about 7:30 this morning, I was on that road and what did I see?

A brown horse just meandering about his business--in the street. Though obviously in need of a restroom, he otherwise didn't seem to have a care in the world.

I was without my camera this morning, but he was tall, brown and friendly-looking. He wasn't road-ready like a Clydesdale.

I considered wrangling the horse, but I wouldn't know what to do with him once I had him. I don't even know where he lives.

So I called the police.

The woman who answered the phone had to verify, "a what is in the road?"

They sent a policeman to deal with the situation. I was nervous a car would crest a hill and then...poor horse. I hope it all turned out OK.

When I was a kid, herds of cows would routinely cross the road for no good reason. Lines of cars would just have to wait for them all to moooove (ha!) out of the way.

Anyway, just had to relay the story about my neighhhbor's (ha!) horse in the road. (OK, I'll stop that.)

This is the most exciting thing to happen to me in a while.

Do you ever run late because of horses or cows or sheep or goats or llamas?

  1. Once I had to wait while a javelina and her two newborns crossed the road.

  2. Hi Kris,

That's cool that you called for help to make sure the horse didn't get hurt! :)

My humans got a bit delayed last week when they were going out from their condo when they were in Mammoth Lakes as a Bear (yep, a real Bear) had come to visit!

    Have a fun day

    Your pal Snoopy :)

    1. I heard about that bear, Snoopy. The video was amazing. He came really close to that building! If you were there, I'm sure you'd have a lot to say about seeing a bear!
